The design process has two parts: the development of a tectonic model, and the differentiation and design of it through the specification of various factors (site-specific, program and material-related).
a. Tectonics: Here we explore the material system in use. This system wouId be described according to its variables (on several application levels - from general to performance-specific). Each material
manipulation has inevitably a scale of operation, which would be considered far a later-stage material application.
b. Performances: Each of the variables would affect the model in a way that can be measured
according to certain effects we regard as 'operational'. Thus, the tectonic system developed in the first stage, would be reconfigured according to several criteria proposed by site-related conditions and
programmatic requirements.
